Restaurant Overview

This atmospheric tile and timber restaurant serves classic British cuisine, but is prepared to look to the future. A traditional atmosphere (when you think chophouse this is probably what you want!) but with all the expertise of contemporary, top quality dining.

The dishes are seasonal, made to order and delightful.

The wine list is as good as any in the region and there is even an in-house ale.

This place is serious about British food, something of a Manchester institution, Sam’s is always recommended.

Truly Good Food Strengths

Sam’s follows excellent local sourcing and focus on quality produce.

Estimated 95% of produce from North West including Yorkshire Fettle, Pennine Beef, Blacksticks Blue and seasonal local fruit and veg.  Menu changes every two weeks to reflect this.  High animal welfare standards, only free range meat used.  Sustainable sources of British fish used.   Clear labelling on menu about the suppliers of meat and diary.

Balanced dishes largely, veg/salad served with each dish.  Good, wholesome children’s menu designed to introduce new foods and flavours.
Quite easy to choose a healthy, balanced starter and main course.

Good recycling policy and practice including oil.

A Manchester institution that is one of the city’s biggest champion of local produce in dining, but where healthy options can be found too.
